St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City

C: St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City
This photo of St. Peter's Basilica was a photo I took in 2008 during my trip to Europe. This Late Renaissance church was designed by Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. This great work of architecture is one of the most significant buildings in Rome, and known globally. Besides that, St. Peter's Basilica is one of the largest churches in the world. As seen in global media mass, this building is significant to many pilgrimage and religious related events. Being one of the holiest Catholic sites, this Renaissance design influenced church was constructed using high quality marble and domes entirely changed the architecture of churches around the world. Visiting one of the largest churches in the world changed the way I looked at other churches I have been in other places around the world. The breathtaking sculptures, colours, shapes on the ceiling of this church was amazing and the history behind the church makes it a significant to the Christian life.
